South Shore 0 St Annes 2

St.Annes had good possession from the opening whistle. They created chances but were unable to score. South Shore defended well and were good on the counter attack. It took a wonderful 25 yard free kick from Alex Cowalsky to break the deadlock just before half time
The second half saw a different South Shore. They passed the ball much better and put the St.Annes defence under a great deal of pressure. They were denied goals by the cross bar and some heroics from sub goalkeeper Harry Spracklen. Daniel Clarkson who had worked tirelessly on the left wing delivered a pin point cross which was met by Michael Rietdyk and get St.Annes a second goal. South Shore carried on pushing until the final whistle.
Man of the Match     Daniel Clarkson

St Annes 0 Clifton 2

St Annes were unlucky not to get at least a point from this game. Despite plenty of possession they could not break down the solid Clifton defence. Clifton took the lead through a penalty and then went further ahead with a great long distance strike. St Annes took the game to Clifton in the second half but despite fine performances from Alex Wilson, Joshua Lacey and man of the match Spencer Binks, failed to score.

St Annes 1 Poulton Youth 1

St Annes began the game slowly and spent the first 20 minutes defending before conceding from a near post corner to make the score 1-0 to Poulton at half-time.
St Annes put their passing game together in the second half and after 15 minutes Scott Harries was fouled in the penalty area but his spot kick was saved by the excellent Poulton keeper. Man of the match Max Rothwell pushed the St Annes midfield forward and a well-worked move put Adam Walsh through for the equaliser. With 10 minutes to go Walsh headed over the Poulton keeper and Harries followed up to tap the ball over the line but was ruled offside. St Annes survived a Poulton break and counter-attack in the final minutes and a thoroughly entertaining match ended 1-1.

UNDER 14’S

Clifton 3 St Annes 0

St Annes started brightly against a strong Clifton side and were unlucky not to take the lead after good work by Andy Jones and Yiannis Veranakis.  Both sides had a number of chances to score before Joe McKillion unluckily conceded an own goal past stranded keeper Tom Glover.

Early in the second half St Annes lost both Dan Palmer and James Guffog through injury but continued to press and forced a succession of corners in search of the equaliser.  The St Annes defence continued to hold firm with Man of the Match Nathan Campbell and Joe McKillion outstanding at the back.  Clifton eventually grabbed two more late goals to give the home side a flattering 3-0 victory.

St.Annes 5 Warton 2

St.Annes started very well passing the ball with ease and control. Stephen Oberman opened the scoring with a well taken goal. Harry Spracklen added to the total. Warton pulled one back, but St.Annes were always in control. Ned Whittle had an outstanding game in midfield. Daniel Clarkson provided the crosses to give Oberman and Spracklen a further goal apiece.

Against the wind in the second half St.Annes had to work a little harder. A great cross by Spracklen gave Oberman his hat-trick. Warton pushed forward and were rewarded with a goal. A very comfortable match for St.Annes. Man of the Match: Daniel Clarkson.

UNDER 12’S

St Annes 1 Lytham 3

A fantastic display by St Annes saw leaders Lytham restricted to a narrow victory. With the wind on their backs St Annes took the game to Lytham in the first half with Scott Little and Harrison Ball creating plenty of chances before a fine Spencer Binks corner set up Ross Carson who duly scored.

St Annes were 1 - 0 up at the break, but Lytham now had the wind behind them, and despite fantastic midfield performances from St Annes men of the match Luke Barber and Carson and robust defending from Mathew Hartley and Alex Wilson Lytham netted three times to clinch victory.

UNDER 13’S

Kirkham 1  St Annes 2

St Annes enjoyed the majority of possession with the wind at their backs, but failed to capitalise the advantage until the 20th minute when midfield dynamo Daniel Elliott found the net. Kirkham with only their 3rd attempt at goal took the advantage of a well taken free kick and headed home to equalise.

In the second half St Annes  into the wind played some great passing football and were able to contain Kirkhams opening attack, as the game moved on both teams were pushing for the winner, but it was St Annes captain Jason Blackwell that was there to finish after a superb run that rounded the keeper by fellow striker Jamie Mallon. A great team performance by St Annes, notable were, Conner and Ryan Rogers solid at the back, Sub Henry Hard in midfield, and the tireless pace and work rate of Jason Blackwell up front.

UNDER 14’S

St Annes 1 Lytham 2

St Annes unbeaten run came to an abrupt end in this local derby. With the wind on their backs St Annes started the stronger and were soon in front when a Sam Drummond long cross found Sam Little on his own who coolly volleyed the ball into the top left corner. St Annes held Lytham for much of this half but did not take their numerous chances. After the break Lytham produced the better football and slotted home only to be disallowed for off side. Lytham took advantage of the wind and soon made it one apiece despite some good defending by St Annes man of the match Daniel Palmer. Lytham pressured St Annes even more and their work paid off when they scored the winner.

UNDER 17’S

South Shore 5 St Annes 2

St Annes were half asleep through most of this match and a series of defensive errors led to a 3-0 deficit within the first 20 minutes. The situation could have been much worse had it not been for some excellent work by Mark Gray the St Annes keeper. Man of the match Scott Harries pushed St Annes forward and Nick Shepherd pulled one back with a header from a far post corner after 30 minutes.

St Annes fell further behind straight after the break when South Shore scored their fourth direct from a near post corner and added a fifth with a well-taken strike following indecision in the St Annes defence. Adam Walsh scored with a 20 yard free-kick 5 minutes from time to make the final score 5-2 to South Shore.

Lytham 2 St Annes 2

St Annes started strong creating many opportunities, which Lytham defended well. Lytham’s goal keeper was superb and denied three one on one chances. Jason Blackwell was brilliant and made all the running and lead the team trough his captaincy and opened the scoring for St Annes. Lytham fought well and created chances mainly on the break and scored just before half time leaving the match poised at 1-1.

Lytham were the better team for most of the second half and St Annes conceded possession and territory for the most of the time left. St Annes did create a few opportunities but it was Blackwell again who rounded the Lytham keeper and finished from a tight angle to bag his second. Lytham got the break through with St Annes failing to clear from the back, and the game finished 2-2. A competitive well fought game with both sides playing very good football.

UNDER 11’S

St.Annes FC 3 Lytham 2

St.Annes were off to a fast start but Lytham were up for the challenge. St.Annes got the breakthrough with a fine goal from Stephen Oberman but lack of concentration gave Lytham an equaliser. Oberman scored his second before the break.

The second half was much better for both teams, each of them pushing for goal. St.Annes carved out a wonderful goal to give them a cushion, but Lytham were not for giving up and put the St.Annes defence under enormous pressure. They were soon rewarded with a well deserved goal. The final 5 minutes were unbelievable with St.Annes holding on to take the win. Man of the Match   Stephen Oberman

UNDER 12’S

St Annes 4  Kirkham 3

A fantastic team performance by St Annes who fought back from being 2 – 1 down at half time to win a thriller by the odd goal. St Annes went behind to a long speculative shot but equalised with a well taken Alex Cameron goal. Kirkham then took the lead with a fantastic long distance strike. St Annes went close through Scott Little, and Cameron Guffogg hit the bar but failed to score again before the break. In the second half St Annes were into the wind but took the game to Kirkham with fine midfield play from Ross Carson and Luke Barber. St Annes man of the match Cameron Guffogg soon hit an equaliser and Little smashed one in from close range to take the lead. St Annes defenders James Pendleton, Mathew Hartley, Alex Wilson and Spencer Binks then withstood the pressure valiantly before another long distance Kirkham Strike found the net. The game seemed to be heading for a draw but Guffogg had other ideas and slotted home his second just before the final whistle.

UNDER 14’S

Kirkham 3 St Annes 4

St Annes maintained their eleven match unbeaten run in a seven goal thriller against a determined Kirkham side.

St Annes took the lead when a fine passing movement between Liam Beaumont and Joe McKillion released Jay Ferdinand who placed a well judged lob beyond the reach of the keeper.  Both sides had a number of opportunities to score but did not increase the scoreline by half time.

After the break Kirkham made  the most of some poor St Annes defending to grab the equalizer. This spurred St Annes back into action and a minute later a fierce Yiannis Verenkis drive was parried by the keeper and Ferdinand  followed up for his second.  Kirkham once more drew level following a defensive mix up only for Man of the Match Ferdinand to grab his hat-trick two minutes later after a fine Sam Drummond run and cross.  Kirkham refused to give up and minutes later bundled in the equaliser to make it three apiece.  St Annes  went on the offensive and were rewarded when Kynan Dawes pounced on a loose ball to fire home the eventual winner minutes before the final whistle.

St. Annes 11 BJFF 0

On a beautiful day for football St. Annes got off to a flying start
with two quick goals from Rory Kelly. The score was increased further after some slick passing lead by Brett Smith who yet again sent Rory through for his fourth. By half time the game was beyond BJFF who played well and broke away only to be stopped by the Van Wyk twins. In the second half Alex Price scored a brace to cap off another great team performance.

Fleetwood ‘A’ 4 St Annes ‘A’ 0

With a heavily depleted squad St. Annes took on 3rd in the table Fleetwood.
In the first half Fleetwood attacked with wave after wave of attacks but could not break through the St. Annes defence, which was held strong by man of the match Ben Clowes & Nathan Price. After the break the home side took advantage of their squad and used it to break down the St. Annes strong hold. From then on there was no way back.

Fleetwood ‘B’ 8  St Annes ‘B’ 0

In the Second game St. Annes took on a very good home side that broke fast and spread the ball well. St Annes battled hard but struggled to get out of their half. Sam Doyle tried hard to keep Fleetwoods shooting to outside the box with man of the match Luke Gill holding off the left side of Fleetwood’s attack.
On the day Fleetwood were a good side and a pleasure to play against.

St Annes 7 Clifton 2

On a windy day at Blackpool Road North the super 6s got off to a flying start which saw Rory Kelly get a hattrick. Despite Clifton’s best attempts they could only score two. St Annes were over powering and two goals from debutant Brett, and a stunner that Wayne Rooney would have been proud of coming from Aiden Preston finished the visitors off. The Van Wyk twins had another good game but this really was a fantastic team performance.

UNDER 9’S
Warton A 3 St.Annes A 0

This was a match in which the scoreline did not represent a true picture of the game. St.Annes played extremely well throughout with some slick passing and moving which was a joy to watch. This passing led to St.Annes having a number of shots at Wartons goal, with winger Nathan Price coming close on a couple of occasions. Although St.Annes dominated the match it was the superior finishing from Warton that won the game. Man of the match for St Annes was awarded to Robert Bradley who played extremely well throughout.

Warton B 1 St Annes B 2

In the second game Warton went ahead early on with a goal mouth scrabble, this acted as a wake up call for St Annes who then started to attack Warton. Chris Pipe battled hard and scored through another goal mouth scrabble. Warton attempted to fight back but were caught on the fast break with a second Chris Pipe goal. A good team performance from St. Annes with Oli P getting man of the match.

St Annes 0 South Shore 2

A Closely matched game was just edged by South Shore with a goal in each half. St Annes defended well into the wind in the first half through James Pendleton, Alex Wilson, Spencer Binks and man of the match Matthew Hartley. St Annes were a little unfortunate to be a goal down at half time as they had chances to equalise.

In the second half with the wind on their backs St Annes created plenty of chances with Ben Proctor hitting the woodwork twice and long range shots coming in from all angles. South Shore held out though for a tough win.

UNDER 13’S

Ymca 4 St Annes 4

A gripping local derby which saw both teams hold the lead only to end with the points shared.  First half StAnnes were slow to get into the game and it was YM that opened the scoring in the first 5 minutes, a rude awakening for shell-shocked StAnnes who then were quick to reply when skipper Jason Blackwell rounded the keeper  to open StAnnes account 1-1, St Annes hunger was now evident  and it was a superb 35 yard rocket form midfielder Jake Partridge that gave the keeper no chance and StAnnes second. Just before the half after some great interactive play in front of goal Jamie Mallon stepped in to get StAnnes third.

Second half St Annes knew YM would be throwing every thing at them with the strong wind behind them they began to reduce the lead and within 5 minutes ym got it back to 2-3, St Annes stayed strong and absorbed the pressure but found it hard to clear their half playing into the strong wind, YM took full advantage of this and made it 3-3. On the 30th minute ym then took the lead. StAnnes dug deep and went on an all out attack and in the last minute it was the influential centre half  Conner Rogers that broke the offside trap to get StAnnes forth 4-4.

A fantastic St Annes team performance and a monumental game as it is the first time StAnnes have ever taken a point from YM, credit to both teams as the game was played in an all round fantastic spirit.

UNDER 14’S

St Annes 2 YMCA 1

In a swirling wind this local derby was the proverbial game of two halves. YMCA quickly went on the offensive and were rewarded after just five minutes when a firm shot was parried by home keeper Tom Glover only for the YMCA to stab home the loose ball. With most of the play in their own half St Annes defended resolutely, with Man of the Match Richard Ingham in fine form, ably supported by Dan Palmer in defence, making sure YMCA did not increase their lead further.

The second half was a different story. With less than a minute on the clock Evan Taylor's deep cross was smashed into the top corner on the half volley by Sam Little to grab an early equaliser. St Annes continued to pressure with Sam Drummond and Andy Jones proving a constant threat.  St Annes eventually took the lead when Yiannis Verenakis beat four defenders before sending a curling drive into the top corner beyond the reach of the keeper.

Despite maintaining most of the possession, St Annes could not add to their tally and settled for a final 2-1 win.

UNDER 17’S

Fleetwood 1 St Annes 2

The match was played in a very strong wind and midway through the first half Fleetwood took advantage of the conditions forcing over a far post corner that the St Annes defence failed to clear. St Annes had a number of chances in the first half but did not seriously threaten the Fleetwood keeper. St Annes had the wind behind them in the second half and, prompted by Man of the Match Scott Harries, pushed forward but by a combination of poor control and poor decision-making could not score from open play. With 5 minutes to go captain James Irving pounced on a ball spilled by the Fleetwood keeper at a near post corner for the equaliser. St Annes continued to attack and Chris Walsh came close with a long-range shot across the keeper before Tom Cartmell scored the winner with a corner which curled straight into the net with 2 minutes to go.

Clifton started the better team and put St.Annes under pressure for the first 15 minutes. Adam Chapman had a goal disallowed, but St.Annes kept up their effort to find an opener. It remained 0-0 at the break.

Again St.Annes started the slower inviting Clifton to take their chances. The back four had to work overtime to contain them.  In the last 15 minutes Clifton got the break through. St.Annes were rewarded a penalty late on but were unable to equalise.

Despite further pressure St Annes could not increase their lead and woeful defending resulted in 3 goals in 5 minutes for the visitors who led 3 - 1 at the break. In the second half St Annes fought back magnificently with Cameron Guffogg setting up man of the match Ben Proctor for his first goal of the game. Proctor soon got his second and good St Annes pressure led to several more chances before a Kirkham breakaway led to a goal. Despite a fantastic defensive performance by Matthew Hartley Kirkham scored again to make it 3 - 5.

ST ANNES 0 SOUTH SHORE 1

Today’s game was a testament to the way this team has bonded and worked for each other throughout the season. Highlights in the first half came from all over the field not least from Man of the Match Sean Heneghan whose solid performance along side Connor and Ryan Rogers and Zac Houghton ensured goals against St Annes were kept to a minimum. Despite searching runs from Jason Blackwell and Henry Hardman St Annes were let down by a scrappy goal just before half time.

St Annes realised the score did not reflect their performance; again they went straight to work to try and make amends. Jake Partridge and Robbie Hawes both made chances continually putting the South Shore defence under pressure. A final penetrating run from Heneghan in the dying minutes could have levelled the match, but it was not to be.

SOUTH SHORE 4 ST ANNES 4

St Annes and South Shore shared the spoils in a hard fought pulsating match.  St Annes opened the scoring when Liam Beaumont drilled in a fine shot from the edge of the box but South Shore quickly replied with a goal two minutes later.  Man of the Match Beaumont grabbed his second shortly afterwards followed by a Sam Little drive a minute later , 3-1 to St Annes.  South Shore refused to give up and after a period of intense pressure grabbed a deserved second just before the break.

In the second half, South Shore seized the initiative and grabbed two goals in quick succession, despite some resolute defending from Dan Palmer and Richard Ingham. St Annes dug deep and had several good opportunities before Andy Jones stabbed home the equalizer.  Both sides continued to press for the winner and with minutes to go, St Annes came close to grabbing the glory when Yiannis Verenkis headed a deep Sam Drummond corner inches over the bar.  The final whistle brought this 4-4 thriller to a close in a match which was a credit to both teams.

ST ANNES 3 SOUTH SHORE 3

The game started evenly and St Annes were fortunate to take the lead after 8 minutes when a through ball by Man of the Match Ste Ryan was misjudged by the South Shore keeper to finish up in the net. Shore responded 5 minutes later forcing the ball over from at a well-taken far post corner. St Annes continued to test Shore’s pace at the back and Tony McCarthy played Max Rothwell in who rounded the keeper for St Annes’ second to go in 2-1 ahead at the break.

Shore came out strongly for the second half and 5 minutes after the restart headed home a free kick to equalise. Shore’s midfield then took control and St Annes conceded from a well-struck shot from the edge of the box to give Shore the lead. St Annes recovered in the final quarter creating a number of unconverted chances and with 2 minutes to go Max Rothwell played the ball through for Chris Walsh to slide the ball past the Shore keeper to leave the final score 3-3.

St Annes ‘A’ 2 Clifton Rangers ‘A’ 4

A game where St Annes only woke up in the second half after a half time talking too.

Clifton dominated the first half with a goal every five minutes, with St Annes making no impression on the game at all. After a half time talk St Annes started to play and then they dominated throughout the second half. Clifton had one chance at goal in twenty minutes. Scott Holt scored his first from a rebound off the Clifton keeper into the bottom corner of the net, then added a second with a run taking him past three players and shooting from the edge of the area into the top corner of the net. The second period saw the entire team from St Annes put on a great display, a shame that they didn’t in the first half. Man of the Match for St Annes was Ben Watson in goal.

St Annes ‘B’ 3 Clifton Rangers ‘B’ 0

A totally different game from the first, St Annes outplayed Clifton from start to finish.

The first half St Annes had many chances and scored through Harry Swindelhurst, with a well placed shot past the Clifton keeper. Thomas Bradley also came close with a couple of shots. Swindelhurst scored his second with a shot from the outside of his foot swerving past the oncoming keeper. A brilliantly taken goal. St Annes had more chances and the Clifton keeper saved them until Danny Singleton (Man of the Match) slotted in the third. A very good performance by all the team, with Cameron Mckenzie being oustanding in goal.

HOGAN CUP

Warton 0 St Annes 5

St Annes produced a workmanlike performance in difficult conditions to beat a resolute Warton side and clinch a semi final place in the Hogan Cup.  In a swirling wind, Tom Carr grabbed the first goal when his cross deceived the Warton keeper and looped into the top corner.  Despite pinning the home side in their own half for most of the first period, St Annes could only manage one more goal through a Liam Beaumont strike.

With the wind in their faces, St Annes started to create some flowing football and were rewarded with an early penalty, which Sam Drummond despatched with aplomb.  A period of sustained St Annes pressure led to the goal of the game when Yiannis Verenakis latched on to a loose ball and his thundering drive into the bottom corner gave the home keeper no chance.  Warton refused to give in and keeper Tom Glover had to make two fine fingertip saves to keep a clean sheet, ably supported by some excellent defending from Evan Taylor and Richard Ingham.  Luke Harris wrapped up the game 5 minutes from time with a well taken low drive. Andy Jones' tireless performance was justifiably rewarded with the Man of the Match award.

HOGAN CUP

Lytham 3 St Annes 2

This Hogan Cup quarter-final match took place on a heavy pitch in blustery conditions at Lytham Academy. St Annes took the lead in the first minute when Adam Walsh was put through and his shot past the keeper was held up in the mud before Scott Harries pushed it over the line. Lytham came into the match and scored three goals in quick succession midway through the half capitalising on sloppy St Annes defensive play. Lytham might well have gone further ahead had it not been for a number of excellent saves by St Annes keeper and Man of the Match Mark Gray who kept St Annes in touch at the interval.

In the second half St Annes had the wind behind them and took the game to Lytham. Harries scored St Annes’ second after 55 minutes with a fine strike coming in from the left to shoot across the Lytham keeper into the top right-hand corner. St Annes continued to push with Tom Cartmell and Ste Ryan working hard but could not find an equaliser in spite of some good chances. In the latter stages Lytham had counter-attack chances as St Annes pushed forward but were again denied by St Annes keeper Gray.

St Annes 1 Spirit of Youth 5

A critical game for St Annes to determine there end of session position in the table Unfortunately it was obvious from the offset Spirit wanted it more than StAnnes, Spirits opener came through a StAnnes defensive error which they were quick to pounce with a cool finish, StAnnes struggled to gather any momentum, with spirit dominating midfield a second goal was inevitable which came through another defensive error with 10 minutes to go before the half. StAnnes began to get it together and threatened the spirit keeper but the squandered chances and being hit on the break for spirits 3rd summed up the first half for StAnnes.

Half time StAnnes made changes, with H Hardman up front and P Bradley helping shore up the defence, the passion and belief in the team seemed to rise and the motivation was back in the side, a surging run from Conner Rogers at the back allowed the menacing Jason Blackwell to finish, at 1-3 StAnnes started to claw their way back into the game. They battled hard to try and reduce the lead but squandered chances in front of goal, with 5 minutes to go Spirit were awarded a dubious penalty to make it 1-4, and with StAnnes on an all out attack were hit on the break in the last minute to make it 1-5 to Spirit Notable for St`s Zack Houghton

St Annes gave a below par performance against a determined South Shore side.  After a bright start, during which Liam Beaumont and Richard Ingham showed some nice touches, St Annes failed to press home their early advantage and eventually South Shore took the lead on a rare break, despite the best efforts of keeper Daniel Palmer.  St Annes continued to look for the equaliser and on the stroke of half time a fine Sam Drummond corner was met with a firm header by Yiannis Verenakis, leaving both sides level at the interval.

The second half proved a drab affair with few chances falling to either side, although with five minutes to go South Shore had the ball in the St Annes net only to be disallowed for a hand ball.

Man of the Match for St Annes was Joe McKillion who worked tirelessly throughout the game.

St Annes started the second half more positively and Chris Walsh hit the bar with a well-struck dipping shot shortly after the restart. St Annes began to dominate territory and possession, prompted by man of the match Scott Harries, and on 60 minutes Dan Ettrick scored from a well-taken St Annes corner to level the score. St Annes created a number of gilt-edged chances that they didn’t convert and the Clifton keeper made a number of excellent saves including one from an Adam Walsh header that looked certain to go in. St Annes continued to push forward but the referees whistle beat them for time. YMCA 2 St Annes 1

St.Annes started with real belief in themselves. They played with real spirit and determination. The midfield fought for everything and the defence dealt with anything that got through. YMCA pushed hard but St.Annes held firm. Just before the break YMCA scored the opening goal.

The second half was even better, St.Annes played some great football. It took them 10 minutes until Michael Rietdyk scored probably he best dipping goal of the season to bring St.Annes level. It was short lived as YMCA scored a well worked goal to go back in front. St.Annes tried with everything they had to come back, Alex Cowalsky hitting the upright with a superb free kick. In the end they just couldn’t find the equaliser. Every player from St.Annes gave 100% in what was easily their best performance this season.
